Scanmar Maritime Services is looking for a skilled and passionate Chief Cook to lead the galley crew aboard our modern cargo vessels operating on international routes. Responsibilities
- Oversee all galley operations, ensuring meals are prepared to the highest standards of nutrition, taste, and safety.
- Develop weekly menus that accommodate cultural preferences and dietary requirements of multinational crews.
- Manage food procurement, storage, and inventory to minimize waste and control costs.
- Train, supervise, and motivate galley staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
- Ensure compliance with international maritime health, safety, and sanitation regulations (MLC, HACCP).
- Handle budgeting, cost control, and reporting for galley expenses.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Chef or Cook aboard commercial vessels or in large-scale catering.
- Proven knowledge of maritime catering standards, HACCP, and MLC regulations.
- Strong menu planning and nutrition expertise tailored to multicultural crews.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and team‑building skills.
- Ability to manage budgets, control food costs, and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Valid seafarer’s medical certificate and STCW basic safety training.
- Culinary diploma or equivalent certification from a recognized institution.
- Flexibility to work on international routes with varying contract lengths.
