Scanmar Maritime Services is currently seeking a highly experienced and safety-oriented Chief Mate to join our professional fleet. As a key member of our deck department on a Bulk Vessel, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the ship, ensuring full compliance with international maritime regulations and company standards.

Responsibilities
- Oversee all deck operations, cargo planning, and stowage to ensure vessel stability and safety.
- Supervise the deck crew in daily maintenance, cleaning, and painting tasks to maintain high ship standards.
- Maintain navigation bridge watches and ensure strict adherence to COLREGs and company safety policies.
- Manage the vessel's cargo handling equipment and ensure all loading/discharging operations are executed efficiently.
- Ensure compliance with MARPOL, SOLAS, and ISPS Code regulations at all times.
- Maintain comprehensive logs, records, and reports related to deck operations and safety drills.
- Coordinate with the Master and relevant shore authorities for seamless port arrival and departure operations.
- Conduct regular safety training sessions and drills for the deck department crew.
Qualifications
- Valid Chief Mate Unlimited license or equivalent maritime certification.
- Proven experience working on Bulk Carriers as a Chief Mate.
- Comprehensive knowledge of cargo operations, ship stability, and international maritime law.
- Must possess valid STCW certificates, medical fitness certificates, and travel documents.
- Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills in a multicultural team environment.
- Ability to demonstrate a proactive approach to safety management and environmental compliance.
- Willingness to commit to a 6-month contract duration.
- Proficiency in English, both verbal and written, for professional communication.
