Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain high-performance cloud-based database systems (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, or similar).
- Monitor database performance, perform regular tuning, and optimize queries to ensure maximum efficiency.
- Develop and execute robust backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies for cloud environments.
- Collaborate with DevOps and Engineering teams to integrate database changes into CI/CD pipelines.
- Manage database security, including encryption, access controls, and compliance with data privacy regulations.
- Automate routine administrative tasks using scripting languages like PowerShell, Python, or Terraform.
- Analyze and manage cloud resource utilization to optimize operational costs without compromising performance.
- Provide 24/7 support for critical production issues and lead root cause analysis (RCA) investigations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- At least 4-6 years of experience in Database Administration with a strong focus on Cloud platforms.
- Proven expertise in managing SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or NoSQL databases in a production environment.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Strong understanding of cloud networking, security groups, and identity management (IAM).
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or AWS Certified Database).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to thrive in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
