Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain cloud database infrastructure on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
- Develop and implement automation scripts using Python, PowerShell, or Bash to streamline database operations and reduce manual tasks
- Monitor database performance, optimize queries, and ensure high availability and disaster recovery solutions are in place
- Manage database backups, patches, and upgrades while maintaining data integrity and security compliance
- Collaborate with development teams to design database architectures that support application requirements and scalability
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, providing technical support and documentation for complex problems
- Implement monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and address database performance issues
- Stay updated with emerging cloud technologies and best practices to continuously improve our database infrastructure
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- 3-5 years of experience in database administration with focus on cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with database engines such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or Oracle
- Strong programming skills in Python, PowerShell, or similar scripting languages for automation
- Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes is a plus
- Knowledge of backup strategies, disaster recovery planning, and data replication techniques
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
- Relevant certifications (AWS Database Specialty, Azure Database Administrator, or similar) are advantageous
