Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare diverse, nutritious, and balanced menus for the entire crew, considering dietary restrictions and cultural preferences.
- Maintain strict hygiene and sanitation standards in the galley and food storage areas in compliance with MLC 2006 and international maritime regulations.
- Manage inventory, order supplies, and ensure cost-effective procurement of food provisions within budget guidelines.
- Ensure the safe storage and rotation of perishable and dry goods to prevent waste and spoilage.
- Prepare meals for varying crew sizes, including high-pressure environments during heavy-lift operations.
- Coordinate with the Captain or Chief Officer regarding provisioning schedules and logistical planning.
- Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen equipment and ensure operational readiness at all times.
Qualifications
- Must possess a valid Schengen Visa.
- Proven experience as a Cook in the shipping, offshore, or heavy-lift maritime industry.
- Valid Seaman’s Book and updated STCW certifications.
- Comprehensive knowledge of food safety, HACCP principles, and sanitation protocols.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multicultural crew in a challenging maritime environment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Clean medical history and ability to pass rigorous pre-employment maritime medical examinations.
