As a key member of the engine department, you will play a critical role in the safe and efficient operation of the vessel's propulsion and auxiliary machinery. Responsibilities
- Assist the Chief Engineer in the safe and efficient operation of all shipboard machinery and propulsion systems.
- Supervise engine room ratings and junior engineers during maintenance and repair tasks.
- Maintain accurate records and logs for all fuel consumption, spare parts inventory, and maintenance activities.
- Execute complex troubleshooting of main engines, auxiliary engines, and associated piping systems.
- Ensure compliance with international maritime regulations (MARPOL, SOLAS) and company safety management systems.
- Oversee bunkering operations and ensure strict adherence to safety protocols.
- Manage planned maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and optimize vessel performance.
Qualifications
- Valid Certificate of Competency (COC) as Second Engineer (Unlimited).
- Proven experience as a Second Engineer or First Assistant Engineer on container vessels.
- Strong technical proficiency in marine engine diagnostics and electrical systems.
- Deep understanding of safety management systems and environmental protection standards.
- Excellent command of the English language for technical reporting and team communication.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team environment.
- Valid Seaman's Book, Passport, and all required STCW training certifications.
