Decathlon, a global leader in sports retail with a presence in more than 60 countries, is looking for a meticulous Customs Coordinator to support our expanding operations in Gelang Patah, Johor, Malaysia. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the speed, accuracy, and compliance of customs clearance for all import and export consignments, acting as the strategic and operational anchor for our logistics team.
You will work closely with suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and government agencies to ensure seamless flow of goods, from shipment booking to final delivery. Your daily tasks will include preparing and reviewing customs declarations, verifying HS codes, obtaining necessary permits, and maintaining detailed records for audit and reporting purposes.
Beyond operational execution, you will monitor legislative and regulatory changes affecting international trade, advising internal stakeholders on impacts and best practices. Your analytical mindset will drive continuous improvement initiatives, helping to reduce clearance times, lower costs, and enhance overall supplyâchain efficiency.

Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end customs clearance for import/export shipments, ensuring compliance with Malaysian customs regulations.
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, carriers, and government agencies to expedite release of goods.
- Prepare, review, and submit accurate customs documentation (e.g., customs declarations, permits, invoices).
- Monitor changes in trade policies and advise internal stakeholders on impacts and best practices.
- Identify process improvements to reduce clearance time and cost, implementing bestâpractice procedures.
- Maintain proper records and reporting for audit and internal compliance purposes.
- Liaise with suppliers and internal procurement teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely delivery.
- Support training and development of junior staff and crossâfunctional teams on customs processes.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum 2â3 years of experience in customs clearance, import/export operations, or logistics.
- Familiarity with Malaysian customs procedures, HS codes, and relevant legislation (e.g., Custom Act 1967).
- Proven ability to handle highâvolume documentation and maintain accuracy under tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problemâsolving skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with internal and external partners.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; knowledge of SAP or ERP systems is an advantage.
- Fluency in English; Bahasa Malaysia is a plus.
