Responsibilities
- Evaluate and assess underwriting risk for critical illness and dread disease applications in accordance with company guidelines.
- Manage a portfolio of policies to ensure adherence to risk appetite and profitability targets.
- Analyze medical reports and complex claim data to make informed underwriting decisions.
- Collaborate with the sales and distribution teams to provide technical underwriting support and guidance.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of existing insurance products and underwriting manuals.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify opportunities for growth in the local market.
- Ensure compliance with internal governance, regulatory requirements, and international underwriting standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Finance, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in underwriting, specifically within Accident & Health or Life insurance.
- In-depth knowledge of critical illness and dread disease product structures and risk factors.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and data-driven problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and internal underwriting management systems.
- Relevant insurance certifications (e.g., CMI, CII) will be highly regarded.
