SONT PHOTONICS Sdn Bhd is seeking a dedicated Executive / Engineer, Quality to join our manufacturing team in Batu Kawan, Penang. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring product excellence by monitoring quality standards, investigating defects, and implementing corrective actions that drive continuous improvement. You will work closely with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to analyze data, conduct root cause analysis, and develop effective quality control plans.
Your day-to-day activities will include performing inspections, maintaining quality documentation, coordinating internal audits, and supporting ISO 9001 compliance initiatives. You will also lead cross-functional quality improvement projects, apply statistical process control (SPC) techniques, and provide training to operators on quality expectations.
Additionally, you will participate in vendor quality management, assist in new product introduction (NPI) quality gates, and contribute to the development of quality metrics and KPIs that align with business objectives. Responsibilities
- Monitor and enforce quality standards across production lines to ensure compliance with customer specifications.
- Investigate product defects, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Collect and analyze process data using SPC tools to identify trends and drive process improvements.
- Coordinate internal audits and support external audits to maintain ISO 9001 certification.
- Lead quality improvement projects, including PPAP, FMEA, and 8D methodologies.
- Provide training and guidance to shop‑floor personnel on quality requirements and best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a quality assurance or quality engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
- Solid understanding of ISO 9001, GD&T, and industry‑specific quality standards.
- Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC), Minitab or similar software, and basic data analysis.
- Strong problem‑solving skills with experience in root cause analysis techniques (5 Whys, Fishbone, etc.).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
