Job Description
Delegate CX is seeking a motivated Home Based System Administrator to support our USâbased clientâs IT infrastructure. In this fully remote role, you will be the backbone of stable, secure, and highâperforming systems that keep critical business operations running smoothly across time zones. You will work closely with a distributed team of engineers, help desk analysts, and project managers to ensure that servers, networks, and applications meet the highest standards of reliability and security.
Your dayâtoâday responsibilities will include monitoring server health, applying operating system and firmware patches, managing user accounts and permissions, performing backup and recovery operations, and troubleshooting hardware and software issues. You will also participate in capacity planning, performance tuning, and the automation of routine tasks using scripting languages such as PowerShell and Bash. Additionally, you will contribute to security initiatives by implementing hardening techniques, conducting vulnerability assessments, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and industry best practices.

Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain Windows and Linux server environments to ensure optimal performance and availability.
- Apply operating system patches, firmware updates, and security hotfixes in a timely manner.
- Manage Active Directory user accounts, groups, and permissions; perform regular access reviews.
- Oversee backup strategies, execute regular backups, and test disaster recovery procedures.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues escalated from the help desk.
- Automate routine administrative tasks using PowerShell, Bash, or other scripting languages.
- Support virtualization platforms (VMware/HyperâV) including provisioning, migration, and performance tuning.
- Collaborate with network and security teams to enforce firewall rules, VPN access, and intrusion detection/prevention measures.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and incident reports for knowledge sharing and compliance.
Qualifications
- Bachelorâs degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Minimum 2â3 years of handsâon experience as a System Administrator in Windows and/or Linux environments.
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP networking fundamentals.
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware ESXi, HyperâV, or KVM.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python) for automation and task scheduling.
- Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, Zabbix, Datadog).
- Understanding of backup/storage solutions and disaster recovery best practices.
- Basic awareness of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and hybrid infrastructure concepts.
- Excellent communication skills, able to work effectively in a remote, multicultural team.
