As an HR Officer specializing in ER/IR, you will be the key point of contact for employees and management, handling grievances, disciplinary issues, and collective agreements. You will work closely with unions, government bodies, and internal stakeholders to maintain harmonious industrial relations and ensure all HR practices align with Malaysian labor legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage employee relations cases including grievances, disciplinary actions, and misconduct investigations in line with company policies and Malaysian labor laws.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on industrial relations matters, such as union negotiations, collective agreements, and disputes.
  • Ensure compliance with the Employment Act, Industrial Relations Act, and other relevant legislation, and update policies as needed.
  • Conduct workplace investigations and facilitate mediation sessions to resolve conflicts amicably.
  • Coordinate with external legal advisors, government agencies (e.g., JTK), and trade unions on industrial relations issues.
  • Develop and deliver training programs on employee rights, disciplinary procedures, and conflict resolution for management and staff.
  • Maintain accurate records of all ER/IR cases, prepare reports, and analyze trends to recommend proactive measures.
  • Support the HR team in implementing employee engagement initiatives and promoting a positive organizational culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Law, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of working experience in employee relations and industrial relations, preferably in a manufacturing or multinational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Malaysian labor laws, including the Employment Act 1955 and Industrial Relations Act 1967.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with professionalism and discretion.
  • Proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia (both written and spoken); additional languages are a plus.
  • Proven experience in union engagement and collective bargaining is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and priorities effectively.
