Responsibilities

  • Lead the instrumentation and control engineering design for FEED, detailed engineering, and EPC phases of oil and gas projects
  • Develop and review safety instrumented systems (SIS), emergency shutdown systems (ESD), and fire & gas detection systems
  • Define technical specifications, datasheets, and material requisitions for field instruments, control valves, and analyzers
  • Oversee vendor evaluations, technical bid analysis, and FAT/SAT activities to ensure compliance with project requirements
  • Coordinate with process, mechanical, electrical, and piping disciplines to integrate control systems seamlessly
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement
  • Ensure all deliverables adhere to international standards (ISA, IEC, API) and client specifications
  • Support project management with progress reporting, risk assessments, and change management for instrumentation scope

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or Control Engineering (Master’s preferred)
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in instrumentation and control engineering within the oil and gas industry
  • At least 3 years in a lead or supervisory role managing multi-disciplinary teams
  • In-depth knowledge of safety lifecycle (IEC 61511), HAZOP/LOPA, and SIL determination
  • Proficiency with DCS, PLC, SCADA, and SIS platforms (e.g., Yokogawa, Emerson, Honeywell, Siemens)
  • Strong experience in FEED and detailed engineering deliverables for upstream, midstream, or downstream projects
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with fluency in English (Bahasa Malaysia is a plus)
  • Professional certification (e.g., PE, CEng, or equivalent) is highly desirable
