Responsibilities
- Lead the instrumentation and control engineering design for FEED, detailed engineering, and EPC phases of oil and gas projects
- Develop and review safety instrumented systems (SIS), emergency shutdown systems (ESD), and fire & gas detection systems
- Define technical specifications, datasheets, and material requisitions for field instruments, control valves, and analyzers
- Oversee vendor evaluations, technical bid analysis, and FAT/SAT activities to ensure compliance with project requirements
- Coordinate with process, mechanical, electrical, and piping disciplines to integrate control systems seamlessly
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement
- Ensure all deliverables adhere to international standards (ISA, IEC, API) and client specifications
- Support project management with progress reporting, risk assessments, and change management for instrumentation scope
Qualifications
- Bachelorâs degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or Control Engineering (Masterâs preferred)
- Minimum 10 years of experience in instrumentation and control engineering within the oil and gas industry
- At least 3 years in a lead or supervisory role managing multi-disciplinary teams
- In-depth knowledge of safety lifecycle (IEC 61511), HAZOP/LOPA, and SIL determination
- Proficiency with DCS, PLC, SCADA, and SIS platforms (e.g., Yokogawa, Emerson, Honeywell, Siemens)
- Strong experience in FEED and detailed engineering deliverables for upstream, midstream, or downstream projects
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with fluency in English (Bahasa Malaysia is a plus)
- Professional certification (e.g., PE, CEng, or equivalent) is highly desirable
