Job Description
Sinohydro Corporation is seeking a dedicated Machine Maintenance Technician to join its power plant operations team in Telipok, Sabah. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliable operation and upkeep of critical power generation equipment, minimizing downtime, and supporting the plant’s efficiency and safety standards. You will collaborate with engineers, operators, and safety personnel to maintain optimal plant performance while adhering to strict regulatory and environmental guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on turbines, generators, pumps, and auxiliary power plant machinery.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults, implement corrective actions, and document all maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and environmental regulations during all maintenance tasks.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and service history using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Coordinate with operations staff to schedule maintenance outages with minimal impact on power generation.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including root cause analysis and reliability-centered maintenance programs.
- Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment and modifications to existing systems.
Qualifications
- Diploma or certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 2-3 years of hands-on experience in machine maintenance within power generation, manufacturing, or heavy industries.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electrical troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment.
- Familiarity with CMMS software (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo) and ability to generate maintenance reports.
- Valid safety certifications such as OSHA, NIOSH, or equivalent Malaysian occupational safety training is advantageous.
- Ability to work shifts, including nights and weekends, and respond to emergency call-outs when required.
