Mandai Wildlife Group is seeking a strategic and hands-on Lead, Legal Commercial and IP to support Mandai X and our expanding portfolio of sustainability ventures. You will partner with business leaders across product, technology, and operations to craft scalable legal solutions that protect IP, enable commercial collaborations, and manage regulatory risk. This is a senior, cross-functional role that blends strategy, risk management, and practical execution.
In this role, you will help shape licensing strategies, negotiate complex agreements, and ensure compliance with Singaporean law and applicable international standards. You will translate business objectives into robust contracts and policies, while leading governance and external counsel where appropriate. The position requires a proactive, business-minded legal professional who can operate effectively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
As part of Mandai X, you will oversee the lifecycle of IP assetsâfrom clearance and protection to monetization and enforcementâacross a diverse portfolio that includes technology, conservation initiatives, partnerships, and wildlife experiences. You will work closely with product, engineering, and partnerships teams to enable scalable, compliant ventures and to protect competitive advantages through strategic IP management and rigorous risk assessment.

Responsibilities
- Provide strategic legal counsel for Mandai X's commercial and IP initiatives, translating business goals into practical legal strategies.
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial contracts, licensing agreements, partnerships, co-development, and technology transfer agreements.
- Protect and manage the IP portfolio, including trademarks, copyrights, patent strategies, and rights clearance across regional markets.
- Advise on regulatory compliance, data privacy, ESG reporting, and risk management for wildlife-focused and sustainability ventures.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with product, engineering, procurement, and business development to enable scalable, compliant ventures.
- Coordinate and manage external counsel, budgets, and matter management to optimize legal outcomes and cost efficiency.
- Support corporate governance, corporate secretarial duties, and transactional support for M&A or equity-linked ventures when applicable.
- Mentor and develop a team of legal professionals and paralegals, fostering a culture of integrity and high performance.
Qualifications
- Qualified lawyer admitted to the Singapore Bar with 8+ years of experience in corporate/commercial and intellectual property law.
- Strong track record in drafting and negotiating licensing, distribution, joint venture, and technology transfer agreements.
- Expertise in IP strategy, portfolio management, trademarks, patents, copyrights, and IP clearance processes.
- Solid knowledge of Singapore regulatory environment, data protection laws (PDPA/Personal Data Protection Act), and ESG considerations.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills; proven ability to influence at the executive level.
- Experience supporting innovative or venture initiatives, preferably in tech, sustainability, or wildlife conservation sectors.
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities.
- Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
