Join the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) as a Lead Research Engineer in the Aural & Language Intelligence team at the Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R). Responsibilities
- Lead research initiatives in audio signal processing, machine learning, and multimodal AI to create nextâgeneration intelligent systems.
- Design, implement, and evaluate novel algorithms for speech recognition, sound event detection, and audioâvisual understanding.
- Coordinate crossâfunctional teams, ensuring alignment of research goals with project milestones and deliverables.
- Author highâimpact papers for top-tier conferences (e.g., ICASSP, INTERSPEECH, CVPR) and journals, and present findings at international workshops.
- Mentor and guide junior researchers and interns, fostering a collaborative and innovative lab environment.
- Engage with industry partners and government agencies to transfer research outcomes into commercializable products and services.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends in AI and audio technologies, incorporating relevant advancements into the teamâs roadmap.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. or Masterâs degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Audio Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in audio signal processing, machine learning, or deep learning research.
- Strong proficiency in Python and frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Kaldi.
- Track record of publications in reputable venues related to speech, audio, or multimodal AI.
- Excellent problemâsolving skills and ability to translate complex concepts into practical implementations.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities, with experience mentoring or leading small teams.
- Familiarity with realâtime systems, embedded audio processing, or hardware acceleration is a plus.
