Job Description

Greenpeace is seeking a dynamic Regional Safety & Security Manager to oversee safety, security, and duty of care across our Southeast Asia operations. Based in the vibrant Kuala Lumpur City Centre, you will develop and implement robust policies that protect our people, assets, and the environment while enabling impactful campaign work.

In this role, you will lead risk assessment initiatives, design emergency response frameworks, and ensure compliance with international safety standards. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to foster a culture of safety awareness and proactive incident management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and update regional safety, security, and duty‑of‑care policies aligned with Greenpeace global standards.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and vulnerability analyses for offices, field operations, and events.
  • Design and oversee emergency response plans, including crisis communication and evacuation procedures.
  • Lead incident investigations, root‑cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Provide safety and security training, drills, and awareness programs for staff and volunteers.
  • Coordinate with local authorities, emergency services, and external security providers to ensure effective response capabilities.
  • Monitor compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations across Southeast Asia.
  • Prepare regular safety performance reports and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Security Management, International Relations, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in safety, security, or risk management, preferably in an NGO or multinational setting.
  • Proven track record in developing safety policies, conducting risk assessments, and managing incident response.
  • Strong knowledge of international safety standards (ISO 45001, OHSAS 18001) and security best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work effectively in multicultural environments and travel within the region as needed.
  • Certifications such as CSP, CIH, or ASIS‑CPP are advantageous.
