Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of technical underwriters and brokers to achieve business targets and maintain high standards of service.
- Develop and implement strategies to drive growth in the commercial lines portfolio through broker relationships and market insights.
- Evaluate and underwrite complex commercial risk proposals, ensuring quality and profitability of placements.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with key brokers, negotiating terms and conditions to maximize business opportunities.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes to inform product development and pricing strategies.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, industry regulations, and risk management frameworks.
- Prepare and present performance reports, forecasts, and recommendations to senior management.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in processes, systems, and customer experience.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in commercial lines insurance, with at least 3 years in a managerial or team lead capacity.
- Strong technical underwriting knowledge across multiple commercial lines (Property, Liability, Marine, etc.).
- Proven track record of building and managing broker relationships and achieving growth targets.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Professional certifications such as ACII, ANZIIF, or equivalent are highly preferred.
- Analytical mindset with proficiency in data analysis and decision-making.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and adapt to changing market conditions.
