Job Description
TMK Chemical is seeking a results-driven Plant Manager to lead our Banting, Selangor chemical manufacturing operations. This role blends strategic leadership with hands-on operations to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient production while supporting growth through plant expansion projects.
As Plant Manager, you will oversee daily plant operations, maintenance, production planning, process optimization, quality assurance, and safety compliance. You will champion continuous improvement initiatives, steer budgeting and capital expenditure, and collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and procurement teams to maximize asset performance and reliability.
Key responsibilities include leading a multi-disciplinary team, implementing TPM/Lean manufacturing, driving cost control, and maintaining regulatory compliance with local and international standards. You will partner with senior leadership to execute expansion plans, improve energy efficiency, and reduce downtime, all while maintaining a strong safety culture.

Responsibilities
- Lead and manage daily plant operations including production, maintenance, and utilities.
- Develop and manage annual operating budgets, cost control, and CAPEX plans; monitor financial performance.
- Drive continuous improvement through TPM, Lean, Six Sigma, and data-driven decision making.
- Ensure adherence to HSE standards, environmental regulations, and quality systems; oversee internal audits and risk management.
- Oversee production planning, scheduling, inventory, and supply coordination to meet customer demand and on-time delivery.
- Manage maintenance strategies including preventive, predictive maintenance; lead reliability programs.
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing operations team; recruitment, training, performance management.
- Collaborate with engineering and projects teams on plant expansions and capacity upgrades.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 8+ years of plant operations experience in chemical manufacturing; minimum 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong leadership, communication, change management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated track record of safety leadership and regulatory compliance (OSHA/OSHA-equivalent; local Malaysian standards like DOSH).
- Experience with process safety, PSM, risk assessments, incident investigations; knowledge of Malaysian environmental regulations.
- Budgeting, cost control, CAPEX project management, and experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle) and MES.
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing, TPM, continuous improvement, and data analytics.
- Willingness to be based in Banting, Selangor; ability to travel to supplier/production sites if required.
