Cohu Malaysia Sdn Bhd is a global leader in semiconductor test and inspection equipment. We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Team Leader to join our team in Ayer Keroh, Melaka. In this critical role, you will lead both customer and internal quality teams to drive compliance, audits, customer satisfaction, problem solving, and continuous improvement across our manufacturing operations.
As the QA Team Leader, you will be the key liaison between the company and its customers regarding quality matters, ensuring all products meet the highest standards. You will also manage internal quality systems, lead root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions to enhance process reliability. Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of quality engineers and technicians to meet departmental and organizational objectives.
- Manage customer quality requirements, including complaint handling, return material authorization (RMA), and corrective action reporting.
- Drive internal and external quality audits (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949) and ensure timely closure of non-conformances.
- Facilitate root cause analysis and problem-solving sessions using tools such as 8D, fishbone, and FMEA.
- Implement and monitor continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defect rates and improve yield.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to establish quality standards and inspection criteria.
- Prepare and present quality performance metrics to management and customers.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and customer-specific quality requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field) or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in quality assurance within a manufacturing environment, preferably in semiconductor or electronics.
- At least 2 years of experience in a team leader or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001, IATF 16949) and quality tools (SPC, FMEA, PPAP, APQP).
- Proven experience in customer quality management and audit handling.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a track record of implementing effective corrective actions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
- Certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or quality auditing (e.g., CQA, CQE) is highly preferred.
