Alpha Builders is actively hiring a motivated Quantity Surveyor to join our Penang team and drive cost control across a diverse portfolio of projects. Based in Bukit Mertajam, you will work closely with project managers, engineers, and procurement to ensure financial discipline, accurate measurement, and value for money throughout the project lifecycle.
As a Quantity Surveyor you will manage cost estimation, budgeting, procurement, and commercial reporting from feasibility to handover. You will prepare bills of quantities, track expenditures, assess variations, and monitor cashflow. Your analytical skills and attention to detail will help us optimise spend, minimise risk, and protect the integrity of project budgets while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. You will also coordinate with site teams to ensure measurement accuracy aligns with progress and change management processes.

Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage accurate cost estimates, budgets, and cost plans from feasibility through final account.
- Prepare bills of quantities, measurements, and procurement schedules to support tendering and value for money.
- Lead tendering processes, evaluate bids, and recommend contractors in line with project requirements.
- Administer contracts, variations, interim valuations, and final accounts, ensuring timely cash flow and compliance.
- Monitor project costs, perform cost control, forecasting, and value engineering to optimise spend.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and subcontractors to resolve commercial issues and ensure alignment with drawings and specifications.
- Support procurement with purchase orders, supplier onboarding, and supplier performance monitoring.
- Assist risk management and quality assurance, ensuring adherence to local regulations and industry standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or related field; MRICS or equivalent certification is a plus.
- Minimum 2 years of proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in construction within Malaysia.
- Proficiency in measurement and costing software; strong MS Excel skills; experience with AutoCAD or BIM is advantageous.
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills; ability to work in cross-functional teams.
- Good knowledge of local building regulations, contract law, and tendering processes in Malaysia.
- Self-driven, organized, and capable of managing multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
