Responsibilities
- Prepare comprehensive cost estimates, budgets, and financial reports for construction projects throughout all phases
- Analyze project specifications, drawings, and technical documents to develop accurate quantity take-offs and cost projections
- Conduct risk assessments and implement value engineering strategies to optimize project costs and efficiency
- Monitor and track project expenditures, ensuring alignment with approved budgets and identifying cost-saving opportunities
- Prepare and evaluate tender documents, contractor bids, and variation orders with thorough commercial analysis
- Negotiate contracts, amendments, and settlements with contractors and suppliers to secure favorable terms
- Provide expert cost advice and financial guidance to project teams and senior management
- Ensure compliance with relevant construction regulations, standards, and financial procedures
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline from a recognized institution
- Professional certification from recognized bodies such as Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or Malaysian Institute of Surveyors is advantageous
- Minimum of 2-3 years of proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry, preferably on large-scale projects
- Strong analytical, numerical, and financial management skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Proficiency in quantity surveying software, Microsoft Office applications, and spreadsheet tools
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders
- In-depth knowledge of construction contracts (e.g., PWD, JKR, or standard forms), regulations, and industry practices
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
