Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine behind our cloud services. As a Regional Transition Program Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end transition of critical environment operations across data centers in the region. You will work closely with engineering, construction, and operations teams to ensure new data centers are operationalized effectively and existing ones undergo smooth transitions. Your expertise in program management will drive standardization, risk management, and continuous improvement. This is a key role within the Global Datacenter Critical Environment Team, based in Johor Bahru, Microsoft's strategic hub for data center excellence. In this role, you will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of transition programs, managing complex schedules, budgets, and cross-functional stakeholders. You will develop and maintain transition frameworks, mentor team members, and ensure compliance with Microsoft's operational standards. Responsibilities
- Lead regional transition programs for new data center capacity, ensuring timely and quality handover to operations.
- Develop and maintain transition plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation in collaboration with global and local teams.
- Drive standardization of transition processes, playbooks, and best practices across the region.
- Manage stakeholder relationships, including engineering, construction, facilities, and security teams.
- Identify and mitigate risks, resolve issues, and escalate as necessary to ensure program success.
- Conduct post-transition reviews and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Mentor and guide project team members, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
- Report on program status, metrics, and KPIs to senior leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in program management, with at least 3 years in data center or critical environment operations.
- Proven success in managing complex, multi-stakeholder transition projects from inception to completion.
- Strong understanding of data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, networking, and security.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to influence at all levels.
- PMP, PgMP, or equivalent project management certification is highly desirable.
- Experience with cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure, AWS, GCP) and operational excellence frameworks (ITIL, Lean).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, global environment and adapt to changing priorities.
