Makilala Mining Company, Inc is looking for a dedicated Safety and Health Manager to lead our occupational safety and health initiatives at our mining site in Pasil, Kalinga. In this leadership role, you will develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive safety programs that protect our employees, contractors, and the environment while ensuring full regulatory compliance with Philippine mining safety standards.
You will work closely with crossâfunctional teams to conduct risk assessments, design hazard controls, and drive a culture of safety across all levels of the organization. By championing continuous improvement, you will identify trends, recommend corrective actions, and ensure timely incident investigations. Your expertise will also be key in liaising with government agencies, external auditors, and industry bodies to maintain certifications and uphold best practices.

Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve siteâspecific Safety and Health Management Systems (SHMS) in compliance with DOLE, Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), and international standards.
- Conduct regular risk assessments, hazard identification studies, and safety audits to proactively mitigate workplace risks.
- Lead incident investigations, rootâcause analysis, and correctiveâaction tracking to prevent recurrence.
- Design and deliver safety training programs, toolbox talks, and emergency response drills for all personnel.
- Maintain accurate safety records, statistical reports, and regulatory submissions, ensuring timely filing with relevant authorities.
- Coordinate with government agencies, external auditors, and industry groups to ensure certification, permits, and inspections are up to date.
- Foster a proactive safety culture by advising senior leadership, mentoring safety officers, and championing best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelorâs degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field (Masterâs degree is a plus).
- Minimum of five (5) years of handsâon experience in safety management, preferably within the mining or heavyâindustry sector.
- Inâdepth knowledge of Philippine safety laws, Republic Act 11058, and relevant DOLE/MGB regulations.
- Professional certification such as NEBOSH, IOSH, BOSH, or local Safety Officer accreditation is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to conduct risk assessments, develop hazard controls, and implement safety management systems.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholderâengagement skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis and safety performance metrics.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken); knowledge of local dialects is an advantage.
