As a Safety Coordinator, you will be responsible for developing and implementing siteāspecific safety plans, conducting regular toolbox talks and safety briefings, and leading incident investigations to determine root causes and prevent recurrence. You will also prepare detailed safety reports, maintain accurate records of inspections and audits, and liaise with external regulatory bodies to ensure all permits and certifications are up to date. Your efforts will directly contribute to reducing workplace injuries, enhancing productivity, and upholding MECās reputation for excellence in health, safety, and environmental stewardship.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor siteāspecific safety plans and procedures in accordance with WSHA and ISO 45001 standards.
- Conduct daily safety inspections, identify hazards, and recommend corrective actions to mitigate risks.
- Facilitate toolbox talks, safety inductions, and ongoing training programs for all site personnel.
- Lead incident investigations, perform rootācause analysis, and prepare comprehensive reports with preventive recommendations.
- Maintain accurate safety documentation, including permits, inspection logs, and training records.
- Coordinate with government authorities and thirdāparty auditors to ensure compliance with local safety regulations.
- Promote a proactive safety culture by encouraging employee participation, recognizing safe behaviors, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Minimum diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience as a Safety Officer, HSE Coordinator, or similar role in the construction industry.
- Certification in Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Officer, OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001, or equivalent is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Singaporeās WSHA, MOM regulations, and international safety standards.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear safety briefings to diverse audiences.
- Proficient in safety management software, MS Office, and data analysis tools for incident tracking and reporting.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification; ability to remain calm and effective during emergency situations.
