As our SHO, you will be responsible for enforcing strict compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA 1994) and FMA 1967. You will not just be monitoring risks; you will be leading safety inductions, conducting regular site audits, and fostering a 'safety-first' mindset among all contractors and personnel. Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor site-specific Safety and Health Management Plans (SHMP).
- Conduct daily safety inspections, toolbox meetings, and site walkthroughs to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Ensure full compliance with DOSH requirements, OSH Act 1994, and other relevant local regulations.
- Investigate all site incidents and near-misses, providing detailed reports and actionable corrective measures.
- Maintain and update all statutory safety records, documentation, and permits in accordance with company policy.
- Lead safety training sessions and emergency response drills for all on-site personnel and subcontractors.
- Liaise effectively with DOSH, local authorities, and site management on all safety-related matters.
Qualifications
- Possess a valid Green Book (SHO Certificate) registered with the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) Malaysia.
- Minimum of 2-4 years of professional experience in construction site safety.
- In-depth knowledge of Malaysian OSH laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to influence site behavior and resolve safety non-conformities.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and identify construction-related hazards (e.g., scaffolding, heavy machinery, height work).
- Possess a valid driver's license and willingness to be based in Kota Bharu.
- Willingness to travel between project sites as required.
