Job Description
Afni is seeking a dedicated Safety Officer to join our team in Quezon City, Metro Manila. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring comprehensive health and safety programs that protect employees, contractors, and visitors while ensuring full compliance with Philippine occupational safety regulations.
You will conduct regular site inspections, identify hazards, and recommend corrective actions to mitigate risks. Your expertise will support incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and the preparation of safety reports for management and regulatory bodies. Additionally, you will design and deliver safety training sessions, toolbox talks, and emergency response drills to foster a culture of safety across all operations.
You will collaborate closely with project managers and supervisors to integrate safety requirements into project planning and execution. Maintaining up-to-date safety documentation, permits, and records is essential, as is ensuring that all personnel use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safe work practices. You will also monitor compliance with environmental health standards and promote continuous improvement through safety audits and feedback mechanisms.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement site-specific health and safety plans aligned with DOLE and OSHA standards.
- Conduct daily and weekly safety inspections, identify hazards, and enforce corrective actions.
- Lead incident investigations, perform root-cause analysis, and prepare detailed reports.
- Design and deliver safety training programs, toolbox talks, and emergency response drills.
- Ensure proper selection, use, and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain safety documentation, permits, and records; prepare reports for management and regulatory agencies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
- Minimum 2‑3 years of experience as a Safety Officer in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of Philippine DOLE Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHS).
- Familiarity with international safety standards such as OSHA, ISO 45001, or equivalent.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to conduct training and influence behavior.
- Certification as a Safety Practitioner (CSP, OSH‑P, or similar) is a plus.
