Acre Works, a leading heavy civil engineering and construction company, is seeking an experienced Supervisor: Launching & Lifting to join our growing team in Penang. This role is critical to the safe and efficient execution of complex launching and heavy lifting operations on our high-profile infrastructure projects. You will be at the forefront of site operations, managing a team of riggers and operators to ensure strict adherence to project plans, safety standards, and quality benchmarks.
Your Responsibilities
As the Supervisor, you will take ownership of daily lifting and launching activities. You will coordinate with project engineers to develop and implement safe lifting plans, conduct thorough risk assessments, and lead toolbox talks. Your ability to optimize resources and solve challenges on the fly will directly contribute to project success. Responsibilities
- Supervise daily launching and lifting operations, ensuring compliance with approved Lift Plans and Method Statements.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of crane operators, riggers, and signalmen to achieve optimal performance and safety.
- Conduct comprehensive pre-lift risk assessments and toolbox talks to mitigate hazards.
- Oversee the maintenance, inspection, and certification of all lifting gears and heavy machinery (cranes, gantries, slings, shackles).
- Monitor project schedules and coordinate lifting activities with other site trades to prevent downtime.
- Maintain accurate site documentation including daily logs, lift records, incident reports, and equipment status updates.
- Enforce strict adherence to the Factories and Machinery Act (FMA), OSHA 1994, and company safety policies.
- Collaborate with project management to troubleshoot operational challenges and optimize lifting methodologies.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of proven experience in heavy lifting, launching works, or construction supervision in the civil engineering sector.
- Possession of a valid Lifting Supervisor certificate / Yellow Book is mandatory.
- Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Extensive knowledge of heavy lift equipment (crawler cranes, tower cranes, strand jacks, launching gantries).
- In-depth understanding of Malaysian OSH regulations and safe lifting practices.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate a diverse workforce.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
- Willing to work in Penang and travel to various project sites as required.
